10 DAY - TANZANIA WILDERNESS (Book Now)

Day 1: ARUSHA  (D)

The start of your Tanzania Wilderness Safari begins in the capital of safaris, Arusha. You will be collected from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the Mount Meru Game Lodge. Spend the afternoon or evening relaxing in the properties surrounds. The lodge’s terrace, shaded by an enormous old Mango Tree, enjoys magnificent views over mature, carefully tended gardens to the sanctuary beyond. It makes for an ideal spot for sundowners or just sitting, relaxing and soaking up the unique atmosphere.

Day 2: ARUSHA - WEST KILIMANJARO  (B / L / D)

After breakfast you will set out for the stunning and African postcard landscape of West Kilimanjaro. This area is renowned for its large population of the semi-nomadic people, the Masai, thorny acacia trees, and its unforgettable bull elephants.

You will stay at Kambi ya Tembo meaning ‘Camp of Elephants’, which offers amazing views of the snow-capped slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and its little sister, Mount Meru. The camp is based on Sinya, a private concession of more than 75,000 acres, bordering Kenya’s Amboseli National Park, and offers traditional tented accommodation with en suite facilities. It combines luxury and warm African hospitality with the best culture and nature experience.

Day 3: WEST KILIMANJARO  (B / L / D)

With little other tourism in the area, West Kilimanjaro provides the perfect opportunity for cultural interactions with the local Maasai, visiting bomas, the market, the village school or when available, the participation in traditional ceremonies that will make your visit the most unforgettable experience of a lifetime. You will also enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. There is also the option to take a night game drive in search of nocturnal animals, or walking safaris escorted by Masai warriors.

Accommodation - Kambi Ya Tembo

Day 4: WEST KILIMANJARO - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK (B / L / D)

From West Kilimanjaro you will drive to your next stunning northern Tanzanian park, Tarangire National Park. Staying at Maramboi Tented Camp, a permanent camp, you will be presented with endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm lined desert between Tarangire and Manyara Lake. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of Mankind and an explanation of the Rift Valley and Africa’s big picture. It is a complete semi desert experience focusing on safari walks and game drives. Plus if you are fortunate to visit the area after heavy rains, the surrounding Manyara and Tarangire Pans fill with water which attracts huge flocks of Flamingos and other wading birds.

Accommodation - Maramboi Tented Camp

Day 5: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK (B / L / D)

After an early morning breakfast you will spend the entire day game viewing in Tarangire National Park. This baobab laced park hosts the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx are often observed. Lunch is taken at picnic location in the park. Watch over an evergreen swamp filled with elephants as you enjoy a delightful bush cuisine.

For the more ardent bird-lovers might keep an eye open for screeching flocks of the dazzlingly colourful yellow-collared lovebird, and the somewhat drabber rufous-tailed weaver and ashy starling – all endemic to the dry savannah of north-central Tanzania.

Accommodation - Maramboi Tented Camp

Day 6: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK - SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (B / L / D)

Leaving the Tarangire behind you will drive to Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world-wide wonder, the Serengeti National Park. The park is renowned for its annual migration; when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

Accommodation comprises of mobile-tented camping at the Serengeti Medium Camp located in Central Serengeti. It is strategically located to oversee the vast Serengeti Plains and offers comfortable accommodation in an intimate bush setting.

Day 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (B / L / D)

There’s nothing like an early morning start allowing you to experience one of the most ultimate game viewing sessions. After a hot cup of tea or coffee you will soon be wide-awake as you watch wildlife in its most active time. The cat family love to make appearances in the morning, while the early morning light makes photographing herds of wildlife a photographer’s dream.

For something completely different, we can arrange an early morning balloon safari over the Serengeti. View large pods of wildlife and watch the sun rise over the park’s endless plains, only to finish off this relaxing journey with a scrumptious champagne breakfast.

After lunch at camp, return to the parks open plains in search for more wildlife viewing and experiences. As the evening light approaches, you will be thoroughly rewarded with all you game spotting with sundowners at a picturesque location in the park.

Day 8: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK - NGORONGORO CRATER (B / L / D)

Say goodbye to the enchanting Serengeti National Park only to be presented with another natural wonder, the Ngorongoro Crater. This incredible formation is part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which covers more than 8300 square kilometres. The actual crater is 260 square kilometres and 620m deep. The original volcano was probably as high or higher than Kilimanjaro.

You will be staying at the Ngorongoro Farm House, an exclusive lodge facing the Oldeani Volcano, in Ololdukan, located on a 500 acre coffee farm and only a short drive from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Farm House provides an original experience reminiscent of the atmosphere of yesteryear. The accommodation is in comfortable bungalows with each unit attractively built on the style of an old colonial farm and rustically decorated with local materials. You can enjoy an excellent homemade cuisine derived from the dairy and fresh vegetables grown on the farm all year around.

Accommodation - Ngorongoro Farm House

Day 9: NGORONGORO CRATER (B / L / D)

To experience the crater without the crowds you will rise early for a half day game drive. Reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise, you will undoubtedly be amazed at this natural phenomenon before you. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to about 25,000 animals and is one of the last places in Tanzania where the Big Five can be seen. The NCA is considered one of the World Heritage Sites and also one of the International Biosphere Reserves. Additionally, the NCA is unique because it is a multi-use conservation area - where the animals and environment are protected but the Masai are allowed to live and continue their pastoral lifestyle.

Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lake as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Return to the Farm House to relax and enjoy a well-earned feast.
