6 DAY – NAMIBIA EXPLORER

Day 1: WINDHOEK TO SWAKOPMUND   (D)

We meet our guide at our accommodation in Windhoek and travel to Swakopmund. Upon our arrival in the early afternoon we check into our hotel, after which we have the rest of the day to our own disposal. In the evening we can enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants that Swakopmund has to offer.

 Accommodation: Hotel

Day 2: DAMARALAND  (B)

Heading further north, we travel along huge lichen fields to Cape Cross, a fur seal reserve where at times over 80’000 animals frolic in the waves of the Atlantic! We drive via the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain (2579m), into the Damaraland, one of the least populated and geologically diverse areas in Africa. This harsh, rocky environment is home to the rare Desert Elephant, the Black Rhino and an array of free-roaming antelope species.

 Accommodation: Lodge

Day 3: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK AREA  (B)

We start the morning with a visit to Twyfelfontein, a heritage site where bushman communities engraved and painted over 2500 pictures some 6000 years ago! We also visit the Burnt Mountain, Petrified Forest and the Organ Pipes - all geological phenomena depicting the creation and evolution of some of the oldest landmasses on earth. We proceed on to our lodge close to the world-renowned Etosha National Park.

 Accommodation: Lodge

Day 4: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK    (B)

The following two days are devoted purely to the abundant wildlife found in the Etosha National Park, which surrounds a parched salt desert known as the Etosha Pan. The park is home to 4 of the Big Five - Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Rhino – its waterholes supporting a rich diversity of birds and mammals, including rare species such as black-faced impala, roan, cheetah, and Namibia’s smallest antelope, the Damara Dik-Dik.

Accommodation: Lodge

Day 5: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK   (B)

After breakfast we travel into the park, visiting a wide variety of waterholes along the way. The eastern part of the park is typically more vegetated than the western part and therefore have better chances of seeing bush-dwelling animals such as eland, kudu and also sable antelope. In the afternoon we travel out of the park to our lodge.

 Accommodation: Lodge

Day 6: ETOSHA TO WINDHOEK  (B)

After leaving Etosha we head south to Namibia’s mining centre , where we have the option of visiting Lake Otjikoto, one of only two natural lakes found in Namibia. Optionally, we can also visit the Tsumeb museum to learn more about the areas minerals, as well as the cultural diversity found in Namibia. We continue southwards via the African craft market in Okahandja to Windhoek. Tour ends.
